NOTICE!

Hey Folks! I started this blog before pinterest came along, or before I found it, at least. A lot of the posts here are merely links to things I wanted to remember. I need space on my account, so if you find something you like, open the link and then pin it quick, as I will be deleting the posts that are not my original ideas.

I am in the process of collecting vintage yardsticks. Here are some of the fun ideas I have come across:

Thrift Store Cherubs

I have been working on my Valentines decor for the Hutch.  I thought some kind of little cherub or cupid statue would be great, but didn't want to fork out the money to buy one.  I don't go to the thrift store often, but found myself there one random day. And I spent 50 cents a piece on these beauties.
Why yes, that is some gold leaf type finish on there.
Out came the spray paint. Love that stuff!
The one on the left has been painted and glazed. The right one has only been painted.

One of the best days of my craft shopping career? The day I came across this can of mistinted glaze at the building supply store.

See the tannish gold color? that is what it was. I talked the guy at the paint counter into re-tinting it for me.  A nice shade of gray. It has been the perfect color for all my antiquing. And nothing beats a whole can for $2.50!
In the end, these two came out perfectly, and will make their grand appearance on an upcoming post of my Valentine hutch decor.

From zero houseplants to

Nine, as of today.  Thank you to my dear daughter who picked out most of the varieties for my mother's day gift, and to my next door neighbor, who shared her abundance of hens & chicks with me.

(Apparently I have a thing for succulents. Who knew?)

Pillow Craft

All Things Thrifty had an inspiring post featuring pin-tucked pillows. Cute!

U-create has lots of great pillow posts (I am serious, keep scrolling)

I have been liking this scrunched pillow idea from V and Co

and think using this tutorial from Make it and Love it would give the right effect, if you skip scrunching the center and only do the sides.
I kept remembering this tutorial from H is Handmade- I had to go find it! This is definitely and accent pillow!

Headboards

We are looking at building our own headboard.  I love being married to a handy man!

Let's start with this video from HGTV

Thank heaven Crazy Nancy's Crazies posted the full instructions here from HGTV,  the links are dead and I am glad to have info on this awesome headboard

This beauty  at abitofparis.com reminds me of the feel I am going for in the girl's room

Now, the rest of this bedroom is questionable, but I like the look of the headboard a lot.

You know if Martha doesn't do it, it can't be cool. Good thing she includes lots of pictures and instructions too!

I like the height on this one.

Chic!

Here are basic instructions for mod podging fabric onto a lampshade.

Here are instructions using the Spray Adhesive methods

And apparently you can also buy lampshades with sticky exteriors, just for applying your own fabric! Here is the HGTV version, too.

If you want to do something more original, check out these guys!
