NOTICE!

Hey Folks! I started this blog before pinterest came along, or before I found it, at least. A lot of the posts here are merely links to things I wanted to remember. I need space on my account, so if you find something you like, open the link and then pin it quick, as I will be deleting the posts that are not my original ideas.

Homemade fly/wasp traps

We have a serious swarm of flies that hover under our maple tree. We also have wasps trying to set up house all over the place. I came across this recipe and put it to use outside. We have jars full of flies and what may be Bald Faced Hornets *cringe* Ahh, it makes you feel good to see all the little buggies that could be harassing us but instead are tucked safely away. I did put one inside, and it was not effective at all. There must be too much other good stuff in there.

Prepare mason jars by punching holes in the lids, the flying pests are attracted to the juice, enter the trap, and then can't find their way back out and will eventually drown. I used some wire to create a hanging loop. Here are Martha's instructions on wiring them, and here is a variation on them.

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
2 cups water

Mix and pour into mason jars. Screw on lids, and hang. Check out how they hung these ones as votives.
